In an era where artificial intelligence (AI) permeates every facet of our lives, the job market has not remained untouched. Platforms like LoopCV automate the search and application process to unprecedented levels. While on the surface, this seems like an efficient evolution, a closer examination reveals a troubling trend. The increasing reliance on automation in job hunting and recruitment is creating a landscape where the human element is increasingly marginalized, leading to a paradox where AI talks to AI, sidelining the very humans the process is meant to benefit.

The Automation Arms Race

The advent of job application automation tools has ushered in an arms race of sorts. Job seekers, in an attempt to maximize their chances in a competitive market, turn to platforms capable of sending out hundreds of applications on their behalf in a matter of minutes. While this might seem like an effective strategy, it inadvertently raises the bar for everyone. What was once a human-centric process of crafting personalized applications has transformed into a numbers game, where quantity often overshadows quality.

The Impact on Recruiters

On the flip side, recruiters and hiring managers find themselves inundated with an overwhelming volume of applications. The sheer scale of this deluge makes it impossible to give each application the consideration it might once have received. As a result, recruitment teams are increasingly relying on AI-driven applicant tracking systems (ATS) to filter through the sea of resumes, looking for keywords and patterns that match the job description. This shift further entrenches the automation cycle, creating a feedback loop where AI-driven applications are sorted and ranked by AI-driven systems.
